Overview:
This project visually communicates the emotional intensity, youthful rebellion, and raw energy of the musical Spring Awakening, reflecting themes of discovery, identity, and defiance. Guided by the creative brief, the campaign was designed to capture attention, connect with students and theatre-goers, and reflect the show’s punk-inspired tone across multiple platforms, including a poster, Instagram post, paper mailer, and two additional promotional applications.
Design Decisions:
The central image of a cut-open pomegranate symbolizes youth, sexuality, and the loss of innocence, echoing the characters’ exploration of identity and self-expression. Real photography was integrated to add authenticity and visual depth. The bold color palette—energetic orange-yellow with pink and green typography—draws from a punk aesthetic, amplifying rebellious energy and making each piece stand out for the intended audience.
To reinforce the gritty, raw tone of the musical, a grainy texture overlays the background, while large black boxes behind the title anchor the composition and create strong visual impact. Across all deliverables, imagery, color, texture, and typography work together to create a cohesive, energetic, and provocative campaign that invites audiences to engage with the story of rebellion and self-discovery.
