Overview:
This illustration was created as part of a first-year project focused on developing technical skill with the Mesh Tool in Adobe Illustrator. The assignment encouraged exploration of realistic shading, smooth gradients, and dimensional form while allowing complete creative freedom in subject matter. I chose to illustrate two koi fish swimming together to highlight movement, balance, and the fluidity of natural forms.

Design Decisions:
Using the Mesh Tool, I built subtle gradients and blended color transitions to create depth, lifelike lighting, and smooth texture across both fish. The circular composition and opposing curves of the koi create a sense of harmony and motion, reinforcing themes of balance and connection.
This project helped strengthen my understanding of vector realism, precision, and detailed
shaping within Illustrator.
